Be comfortable

and be YOU!

When it comes to outfits, my biggest piece of advice is to choose something that you’ll be comfortable in. Because believe it or not, it’ll show in your face!

Choose outfits that make sense. Think about the conditions and locations we are going to be shooting in and plan accordingly. If it’s warm, wear something breathable so you aren’t stressing about sweat. If it’s chilly, wear layers or at least cozy socks hidden under your boots ;)

NEUTRALS ARE KEY

When it comes to colors, I typically suggest choosing neutrals. Don’t worry, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wear browns and grays. There are neutrals in every color - think mustard yellow, burgundy, navy blue etc. I would only say to steer clear of any pink, bright orange or red, because more times than not it leaves you with a strange pink tint to your skin in photos.

PATTERNS ARE OKAY WHEN DONE RIGHT

Patterns can still work as long as you avoid big chunky, patterns. If the pattern is too loud it’ll just distract from what is actually happening in the picture which defeats the whole purpose! I think the smaller patterns are the best route. Also I would try not to pair too many patterns, as you can probably guess it gets a little chaotic. The simpler the better!

Let’s talk props

If you have props that you want to incorporate into your shoot, let’s chat about it beforehand! Props can be really fun, but just like patterns... only when done right. Props can be anything from your car/truck, to blankets, all the way to your loyal pup.
